trace

The first two tapestries for another 9 part piece provisionally entitled trace or perhaps traces. I like these 'multi' tapestries. Small parts of a whole. It seems much more like how I actually experience things - small snapshots, fleeting images, random thoughts.

Nice project. It seems like your colors for this are much quieter than previous work I've seen. Do you anticipate a struggle to get all the small pieces mounted together, straight?

No, I don't think so. I managed ok with Poplar. I'm pretty careful with my edges and a variation of up to 2mm dissappears when I cut the piece off and the tension slackens. I know 2mm doesn't sound much but it's noticeable on such small scale work. I should say that just about everything else in my life is skewiff - border edges, lines of seedlings, sewing etc...!

like the previous poster, I really enjoy the colours of this piece, I seem to be drawn lately to that sort of natural linen colour.

Thanks for sharing your sketch too :-)

I like the elegance of the grey pencil on the squared paper as much as I admire the quiet beauty of your woven pieces. Nine pieces form such a satisfying construct, I do agree.
