My favorite part is the lovely area of lines (branches?) in the lower left - ooh, and the soft hatched edge that will be joining the lt. area to the blue above it! On the collage photo, I wasn't sure if those were tricks of the lighting on the photo, or would be part of the woven piece. I'm so excited to see them both there! They will be so lovely in contrast to all the well defined shapes that surround them. Lovely meticulous design work, Meabh!
Hi Meabh, Wow! Your tapestry is beautiful! I love that you've shown us the whole development of the work. Do you use DMC threads? I didn't realize they sold anything other than the small skeins of embroidery thread.
Kathy - I wove it upside down to avoid having to start with that hatched edge - that's how much of a shirker I am! Your dog is mind bogglingly impressive - no shirking there!
April - That's what I use, the 6 stranded embroidery thread but I tease out 1 strand and use it with 1 strand of sewing thread.
Wow Meabh, I had no idea that your work was that fine! (Having only been able to see it online, not in person) What do you use for your warp? And do you use a hand beater?
April - the warp is button - also called extra strong - thread. Drima for preference but otherwise Gutterman. Drima is getting hard to find. I beat down, well push down really with the tips of my fingernails.
